Tibby Cotter Bridge

The Albert ‘Tibby’ Cotter Walkway is a shared pedestrian and cycle pathway spanning Anzac Parade in Sydney’s East, providing a key link between Central Station and the expansive sporting and entertainment precinct at Moore Park. The 6 metre wide, 440 metre long bridge features concrete helical approach ramps and a superstructure formed using two slender curved steel box beams.

Lend Lease was contracted by RMS to construct the bridge, Fernandes Constructions were subcontracted to construct the substructure and approach ramps and concrete deck.

Special features of the project include construction within an urban environment, and in a very public and highly visible place on a very high profile project. As such special care had to be taken to ensure separation between the public and the work areas to ensure the safety of all involved.

The programme for the works was also exceptionally tight with a fixed deadline, and as such works had to be comprehensively pre planned and detailed and project management risks identified to prevent creating additional delays to the project.
